WE ARE WHAT WE REPEATEDLY DO. EXCELLENCE THEN IS NOT AN ACT, BUT A HABIT.

I still remember where I was the first time I read that quotation. There is something deceptively simple and brief in its form and yet the words feel charged with so many layers truth about the human experience.

There has been no other quote I’ve encountered in the past decade that was able to cut through my mental noise like this one. For me it behaves almost like a mirror, one that so clearly shows a reflection of my current headspace and yet also provides a way forward from my current cycles of self-sabatoge.

as a daily reminder for myself I took my own spin on the quote, and printed it on a shirt!

WITH MY COMMUNITY ON YOUTUBE, WE HAVE REGULARLY DONE SOMETHING CALLED THE HABITS OF EXCELLENCE CHALLENGE.

That’s where we all pick one habit to work on for 14 days straight, and share our experiences together as a community.

This by far has been one of the coolest things I have done with my channel. Getting to see everyone work together towards self improvement is so rewarding.

We will do more with this quotation in the future.

The quote itself is often attributed to Aristotle. As my internet friend Caelen points out in a lovely essay, it’s origin is often misunderstood.

It comes from the writings of Will Durant in his book The Story of Philosophy.

Appreciate you stopping by, and more on the Habits of Excellence project soon!
